Earth Day Is Everyday!

Earth day is celebrated every year. It represents a formal recognition of the need to be aware of and honor this planet that is our home which is so often taken for granted as “being here for us!” Now in the midst of such tumultuous times we are forced to draw our attention and direct our attention to the reality of the fact that we live here on this planet, spinning in space and are here for a limited period of time. What will you do with the rest of your life. Not taking this life for granted is a beginning. Something as simple as turning off all lights, the TVs, etc and sitting in silence. If we do this just once a week for 20 minutes and use this time as a reminding factor of our lives here on this planet which exists well beyond our taking it for granted to serve our needs.

We all need to give back to this planet in recognition of its Vital importance as a reality in our lives that is not automatically going to provide for our needs all the time. We MUST have some input into that process. Some simple actions we can take: recycling paper, glass and metals; buying minimally packaged goods; wash clothes in cold water; use less water; plug air leaks in windows and doors to increase energy efficiency; adjust thermostats higher in warm weather and lower in cooler weather, are simple physical actions to take. Most importantly make a decision to be a conscious neutral observer of your lives and see how you can be more energy efficient, both within the actions you take in life and in the ways you use resources. Try to connect with nature and observe it closely as it is a wonderful teacher of respecting the planet…connect family and friends with nature and the natural surrounds.

Then, you will be living earth day every day. Thank you for caring.
