Boca Raton Public Library Presents … “Florida Author Series: Rabbit In The Moon By Deborah And Joel Shlian” May 30, 2026

The Boca Raton Public Library hosts Deborah and Joel Shlian, authors of Rabbit in the Moon. Their work details a young Chinese American doctor, Lili Quan, who travels to China after her mother’s dying request and becomes entangled in a mystery surrounding her grandfather, who may still be alive and hold the secret to immortality. After inheriting this secret, Lili becomes the target of a dangerous group of killers and must rely on her intelligence to survive. Rabbit in the Moon, an international thriller, has won the Gold Medal for Genre Fiction from the Florida Book Award, the Silver Medal for Mystery Book of the Year from ForeWord Magazine, was a finalist for the National Best Books Award from USA Book News, and won first place in the Royal Palm Literary Award from the Florida Writers Association.

Deborah and Joel Shlian will be presenting on and discussing their work on May 30 at 2:00 PM. Both practiced medicine together before returning to the University of California, Los Angeles for their Masters of Business Administration. They have since balanced medical management consulting with writing. After twenty-five years in Los Angeles, they moved to Florida and now live in Boca Raton. Their visit to the library is sponsored by the Laine K. Rudd fund.

“Florida Author Series: Rabbit Moon by Deborah and Joel Shlian,” will be held on May 30, 2026 at the Downtown Library, 400 NW 2nd Avenue from 2-3:30 PM.
