In a world where people are looking for purpose, connection, and real impact, volunteering with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office checks all the boxes. Whether you are retired, working part-time, or simply have a few hours a week to spare, this program allows you to make a real difference right here in your own neighborhood.
Our community thrives when people step up—not just to complain about what’s wrong, but to be part of what’s right. Volunteers at PBSO do just that. They support deputies and staff in meaningful, visible ways: neighborhood patrols, assisting during events, providing office support, and acting as an extra set of eyes and ears for the safety of all.
And no, you do not need a background in law enforcement. Here is all it takes to start:
• Basics 1 & 2: A single half-day training session
• Computer class: Another half-day
• Field Training: Typically, 4 half-day sessions to get comfortable and confident in your role
Once completed, you’ll be issued a PBSO Volunteer shirt and any additional equipment needed for your duties, a radio, bike, or other gear.
Volunteering builds community. It builds trust. It reminds people that we’re all in this together—and sometimes, the best way to lead is by simply showing up and lending a hand. If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, call (561) 688-3980 or email [email protected].
