How do we create a world that works for all of us? How do we create a community that works best for us and the surrounding communities? We certainly have to focus on ENERGY. Our own energy and how we engage and conserve it as well as the planet’s energy. In regard to the planet’s energy, several points have been made many times by organizations and individuals that have committed to turning the tide in our perception to energy consumption; that is, from “blind consumers” to “AWARE CONSERVERS.” WE are the ones we have been waiting for. WE are the heroes of the conservation evolution. This means BEING MORE ENERGY EFFICIENT! Each one of us can make a difference through the direction and intention of our consciousness.
Here are some examples of conservation transformations: buy locally grown and/or organic foods and support those organizations that try and make a difference. Purchase “Fair Trade Certified” food products; support family farms such as organic valley and Equal Exchange…living simply so others can simply live. Reduce, Reuse, and rethink so that resources and money are saved. This reduces inequality and increases sharing-jobs, ideas and opportunities. Community investing is a viable alternative to big business.
It is also important to be an activist, as a participant in any organization or as a shareholder of a company and as a member of any community. “Connected Resilient Communities” is an expression of another means by which people can be helped through difficult times. Perhaps, a community garden may be a way to build intra-community connections?! Now is the time! We have a very significant opportunity before each one of us as expressed in engaging in any one of the many ways described above, to create a “greening” of your own life. There is no ‘there’ to escape to, because the places and societies on this planet are becoming inexorably connected. Let it begin with me! Thank you for listening!
