On February 17, the Boca Raton Chapter of Paps Corps at Sylvester Cancer Center gathered for a festive and beautifully orchestrated celebration marking the Lunar Eclipse and welcoming the Year of the Horse. The event took place at P.F. Chang’s, where members enjoyed a delightful luncheon followed by lively games of mahjong in an atmosphere filled with warmth, friendship, and cultural flair.
The afternoon was chaired by Connie Murray, whose vision and attention to detail transformed the restaurant’s private dining space into a stunning Oriental-inspired setting. Guests were immediately captivated by the striking décor, featuring rich hues of red, gold, and black — traditional colors symbolizing good fortune, prosperity, and strength. Tables were thoughtfully arranged with Asian-influenced accents and exotic touches that created a sense of elegance and celebration. From colorful accessories to carefully curated centerpieces, every detail reflected both the spirit of the occasion and Connie’s creativity. Attendees were unanimous in their praise, noting that the ambiance elevated the gathering into something truly special.
The culinary experience was equally memorable. A heartfelt thank you goes to restaurant manager Keith, who worked closely with organizers to ensure a seamless and delicious luncheon. Guests were treated to an array of flavorful dishes that reflected the restaurant’s signature style, beautifully presented and served with efficiency and care. The attentive waitstaff contributed to the smooth flow of the afternoon, allowing members to relax and enjoy both the meal and one another’s company.
Following lunch, the room transitioned from dining to friendly competition as mahjong tables were set and tiles began to click. Gratitude is extended to Felice Rosen, who expertly coordinated the table arrangements and ensured that all players were comfortably seated and ready to enjoy their games. Whether seasoned players or enthusiastic beginners, participants appreciated the opportunity to engage in this traditional pastime, which perfectly complemented the cultural theme of the day. Laughter and spirited conversation filled the room as games unfolded, reinforcing the camaraderie that defines the Boca Raton chapter.
Special appreciation is also extended to Dee Zwickau for keeping members informed and engaged. Her efforts in communicating event details helped ensure a strong turnout and contributed to the overall success of the gathering.
Beyond the decorations, delicious food, and spirited games, the luncheon reflected the heart of Paps Corps: community, friendship, and shared purpose. Events like this not only provide meaningful social connection for members but also strengthen their collective commitment to supporting cancer research and patient care through Sylvester Cancer Center. The February 17 celebration was a shining example of what makes the Boca Raton Chapter so vibrant. Through thoughtful leadership, dedicated volunteers, and enthusiastic participation, the afternoon became more than a luncheon — it was a joyful expression of culture, community, and compassion.
